Spondylolisthesis – “Slippage of the Spine”
Our son, James, has suffered from lower back pain throughout most of his 20s. It was misdiagnosed as just an injured disc, until a specialist looked more closely at the x-rays and saw that his next-to-lowest vertebrae was fractured and had slid forward, causing severe pain with nearly any and all movement. Years of “therapy” to strengthen his core muscles and medication to manage the pain may have done more harm than good. Surgery (metal rods and screws) to stabilize his spinal cord a couple of years ago seem to have been effective. Yet he knows he will never be pain free and he has to live with some restrictions on lifting and activities that might cause further injury. Apparently, this is a more common condition than you might think – Here’s some more info on it…

Cleveland Clinic says, “Spondylolisthesis is the most common cause of back pain in teens. Symptoms of spondylolisthesis often begin during the teen-age growth spurt.”
